The Breakout Partnership
Strategic visibility, dreamy partnerships and the pursuit of the opportunities that you’ve always wanted
You've built something real.
A business. A body of expertise. A point of view that took years to develop and that the right people genuinely need to hear. And now you have a book.
You're not doing this for the advance. You're doing it because a book opens doors that nothing else does. It establishes authority in rooms you haven't entered yet. It extends your reach into markets, partnerships, and conversations that your current platform can't access.
But here's what most thought leaders discover after they sign a book deal: the publishing machine as good as it is at what it does is not built to think like a business strategist. Publishers pitch bookstores. They pitch media. They run their lane expertly.
Nobody is pitching the hotel group. Nobody is calling the corporate events director. Nobody is building the brand partnership that turns your launch into a cultural moment. Nobody is getting your book into the airport bookstore window for Juneteenth.
That's where I come in.
What the Breakout Partnership Actually Is
The Breakout Partnership is my highest-touch engagement — a six-month strategic collaboration for thought leaders who want someone working the market on their behalf, not just advising them from the sidelines.
I bring 15 years inside traditional publishing at Chronicle Books, HarperCollins, Hardie Grant, and Scholastic, plus the relationships, market instincts, and out-of-the-box thinking that come from having been in the rooms where these decisions get made. I know what publishers do. More importantly, I know what they don't do and that's where your biggest opportunities usually live.
This is not coaching. It's not a course. It's not a framework you follow on your own.
It's a partnership. Active and strategic.
What This Looks Like in Practice
We start with a 90-minute strategy session where I map the full landscape of opportunity (retail, media, brand partnerships, corporate events, speaking, hospitality, specialty channels) and we prioritize together based on your goals, your timeline, and where the highest-leverage openings are.
From there, here's how we work:
I pitch where I have relationships. If I know the person, I make the call, send the email, or make the introduction directly.
I build the pitch where you have the relationship. You know people I don't. I'll craft the approach, the framing, and the ask…and you send it from your own inbox, backed by strategy that actually works.
We track everything together. Every pitch, every conversation, every open door gets documented so nothing falls through the cracks and you always know exactly what's in motion.
We meet regularly to adjust. Markets shift. Opportunities surface. Timing matters enormously in this industry. Our monthly strategy calls keep the plan current and the momentum moving.
You do your share. This is a partnership, not a done-for-you service. I bring the network, the strategy, and the execution expertise. You bring access to your own relationships, responsiveness when an opportunity arrives, and the willingness to show up when the doors we've opened need someone to walk through them.
A Story About What's Possible
I recently worked with a thought leader on their book launch. Their publisher was doing what publishers do, pitching the traditional trade accounts, running the standard playbook. But there was a whole category of opportunity nobody was looking at.
I pitched airport bookstores. I secured placement and not just on a shelf. Their book was in every window display for Juneteenth. I pitched hotel partnerships and corporate event programming. I thought about who this author's reader actually was and where they actually spent time, not just where book buyers traditionally looked.
The result was distribution and visibility in accounts their publisher never would have pitched, relationships with brands and venues that extended the book's reach long after the launch window closed, and a launch that felt like a moment rather than a release date.
That's the kind of thinking I bring to this engagement. Not just what's in the standard playbook but what's possible when someone is genuinely paying attention to your specific book, your specific audience, and the specific moment you're in.
Who This Is For
The Breakout Partnership is for you if:
You are a thought leader, executive, or established business owner who has (or is writing) a book and understands that visibility is an investment, not an expense.
You want someone who has been inside traditional publishing working the market on your behalf not teaching you how to do it yourself.
You think of your book as a business asset, not just a publication. You want it to generate speaking opportunities, brand partnerships, corporate relationships, and new audiences, not just book sales.
You are ready to be an active partner in this work. You will respond when opportunities arise. You will send pitches to your own contacts using the strategy we build together. You understand that the best results come from both of us showing up.
You are playing a long game. You understand that relationships built in month two pay off in month five, and that a door that says not yet today may say yes next season because we stayed in relationship with the right people.
Who This Is Not For
I want to be direct with you, because the wrong fit wastes both of our time.
This engagement is not right for you if you are looking for someone to do everything while you wait for results. The Breakout Partnership works because it's genuinely collaborative, you bring access to your own world, I bring access to mine, and together we cover more ground than either of us could alone.
It's also not right for you if you need a guaranteed outcome. Nobody in this industry can honestly promise you specific placements or partnerships… not a PR firm, not a publicist, not me. What I can promise is strategic pursuit, genuine relationships, and the kind of thinking that creates opportunities other people miss. If that's what you're looking for, we're probably a good fit.
If you need certainty of outcome, the Breakout Partnership or any legitimate visibility service is not what you need.
The Investment
$3,500 per month — six-month minimum engagement
Total investment: $21,000
This includes your 90-minute kickoff strategy session, monthly strategy calls, weekly async check-ins, all pitching and outreach on your behalf, review and feedback on your own outreach, and full documentation of every conversation and opportunity in motion throughout our engagement.
Engagements are limited. I work with a small number of Breakout Partnership clients at any time because the quality of this work depends on my genuine attention and the strength of my relationships. When I put my name on a pitch, it means something. I protect that.
